Game Title:
The Swapper
Game Description:
The Swapper is a story about treating human beings as objects. Probably best described as a space-themed ambient puzzle platformer it features stunning visuals and game mechanics centered around exploration and the main character's ability to create clones and swap consciousnesses with them.

What was your inspiration for making the game?
It might be inspired by some books, 2001: A Space Odyssey ("The boring American sci-fi film"), Solaris ("The way too long Russian sci-fi film") as well as many puzzle platformers and metroidvanias.

How is your game unique from others out there?
We have a very strong focus on atmosphere which can be seen in all aspects of the game's design. The game mechanics are original as far as we know and the art style also stands out very well.

How long did it take you to make your game?
We're still developing The Swapper and since only the last few months of it's development have been full-time it's really hard to say how long it did actually take. Prototyping was started during summer 2009.

What was the hardest part about making it?
Sometimes it's hard to stay motivated when looking at the huge amount of work ahead. And of course designing a metroidvania without using many common metroidvania tropes is not the easiest task.

Any other unique or interesting facts about your game we should know about?
We don't use 3D modeling software - we use clay!

How did you pick the name of your game?  Did you have any others in mind?
It was what I (Olli) first came up with when thinking something related to The Swapper's game mechanics. There might have been some other ideas I'm happy to not remember.
